Ibiza’s History

Lutz Hirschmann The history of ibiza starts several millenniums ago and has been enriched by a historical path that has seen different civilizations. The territory of the island is ancient, we can in fact go back of about 8 million years ago, at the birth of the Balearic Islands. Beginning the islands were still part of the Spanish mainland, but the subsequent rise in sea level changed his physiognomy. If you choose the island for nightlife or a family vacation between sea and relaxation, the cultural heritage of Ibiza comes as a total surprise. The inhabitants are accustomed to it, but few know that Ibiza-city, better known as Eivissa is part of UNESCO. The old town is located in the upper part of the city: the Dalt Vila, walking through its streets is like being in an open-air museum, with ancient palaces and churches. Surrounding the old town are the walls, built in the sixteenth century and used as a model for Renaissance building fortifications of the colonial era. A walk and a visit to the beauties of the city will change your vacation into something more than just a sightseeing tour.
