Although most people that visit Ibiza are more interested in its parties and in its nightlife generally, the notorious Balearic island offers more than that. During the whole year a lot of festivals and celebrations occur, that promote the original aspect of the city, its culture and history. Let’s see below some of the most interesting festivals of Ibiza.

Carnival

The annual Ibiza Carnival that takes place all across the island, brightens up the mid-February season. Each year, Ibiza's dance schools and youth collaborate for a fantastic show. Floats pass through the streets of Ibiza; each with a different theme. You will see some amazing dance routines and be treated to an array of musical styles from Latin, to percussion to popular music from film and stage. Prizes are given for the best floats. Judges are looking for striking originality, creative choreography and cool costumes and you can be assured that everyone taking part will be doing their best to get their hands on the top prize.

Festes de la Terra, Ibiza Town

Ibiza Town's very own traditional festival coincides with the commemoration of its local patrons, Santa María de las Nieves and Sant Ciriac, as well as marking the day the Catalans rid Ibiza of the Arabs in the early 13th century. Celebrations include live music, markets, sports competitions, folk dances, parades and children's activities, culminating in an amazing spectacle where fireworks lighten up the sky over the Old town in the evening of August 8th (Sant Ciriac day).

Patrimoni Gastronomic Food Festival, Ibiza Town

This food festival starts in late January and is celebrated throughout February and into March. A selection of restaurants across Ibiza Town offer special menus showcasing the best local and international cuisine.

International Music Summit

International Music Summit is an educational, inspirational and motivational thought leadership platform dedicated to creating awareness of and appreciation for electronic music and the artistry related to DJing and all related art forms, through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of the genre to art and culture worldwide. IMS annually hosts major events globally in Ibiza, Los Angeles, and China. IMS was created a time when electronic music was at rock bottom and in desperate need of a productive community setting for its leaders.
